Arizona is always on my mind when the road leads to the Great Southwest . . . it has it all, from one of nature’s most hostile, to one of the world’s most spectacular landscapes. The temperature here can vary some one hundred and fifty degrees, but no matter where the mercury sits, this place will never fail to take your breath away. You’ll know just what I mean, the first time you stroll on over to the edge of the Grand Canyon, or venture into one yourself, standing in the very rushing water that carved her, looking up past canyon walls that seem to go all the way to Mars. So if you can’t find scenic majesty, as well as a deep rooted spirit of the West, around every corner in this place, ...then you’re just not looking !
Also shoulder deep in history, Arizona sat center stage for the winning of the West. The gallows behind the courthouse in Tombstone still stand as testament to necessary measures taken to tame the seemingly untamable. But Arizona’s legacy goes back much further than that....Imagine finding yourself out walking one of this great state’s labyrinths of canyons, only to round a bend, and find yourself face to face with the skeletal remains of an ancient cliff dwelling, from a civilization long since gone . . . If you stand very still, and listen carefully, you’ll swear you hear flute music riding the desert breezes blowing by. Your mind races to convince you that it is only the wind....don’t allow it!
